"commentText": "Great article! Your conclusion could have also stated that 'exactly the same is true for the leaders of' non-military governmental bodies at the local, state/provincial, and federal level. It's why in the face of U.S. declaration to withdrawal from the Paris Accord we have seen so many American state and local government officials declare or reaffirm a commitment to act on climate change addressing both mitigation and adaptation. Regardless of whether we \"think\" the change is human-caused, prudence suggests that mitigation will lessen any human-caused impact and parsimony will enjoy the extended life of limited resources (and in most instances, the reduction in costs through decreased usage).

When the risks are great, even though the likelihood is small, we protect our personal and professional bottom line with insurance - auto, casualty, D&O, malpractice, medical, surety. We do the same even when the likelihood is certain - death. We willingly pay money now to protect against a negative consequence - no matter the cause - in the future. There is no insurer writing policies today policy that protect against the disparate impacts of climate change. It is precaution that tells us we have to write our own policy through the mitigation and adaptation activities we pursue.",
