"commentText": "Here's my take-away regarding this article: A DISRUPTIVE business offers innovative products/services (personal computers) to a customer market UNDERSERVED by established businesses. A NEW COMPETITOR offers innovative products/services to the SAME customer market served by established businesses (Uber).

Now regarding Netflix. I don't see them as disruptive because their original business model was to offer Blockbuster customers better terms and services like (A) NO late charges, (B) delivery to your home as opposed to driving to a video store and (C) a bigger selection of videos than a physical store with limited storage could offer. Netflix didn't offer streaming services until a few years after they had started their business -- when streaming and supporting technology could deliver an acceptable user experience. Even today, the majority of Netflix' library is physical DVDs mailed to customers. Not that many in-demand movies are available through streaming, which is one of the reasons streaming services (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc) are developing their own original streaming content. ",
