"commentText": "This is a lovely and at the same time painful read. Unfortunately I am a dealing with the issues described in my current role. I am an educated and credentialed black woman who somehow is assigned the lower-level tasks on my team vs my more junior coworkers. Admittedly I do not think it is conscious bias in my case, but perhaps unconscious? When I've discussed the issue with our boss, he literally said what you have written \"well, someone has to do it\". While it hurt to read this article, it was also reassuring to know that I'm not the only one dealing with such issues and that you are shining a light on it in the hopes of leveling the playing field. I will continue to talk to my boss about my concerns until it's just time to move on if resolution doesn't come. I really appreciate this insight.",

"commentText": "What did you offer your boss in terms of a solution? Perhaps you can recommend a new hire specifically for those task or perhaps the tasks cans be rotated among the team. To his point, someone has to do it. You may need to let him know that you will exit the company unless his perceived pattern of discrimination continues.",

I've never experienced any of this personally while working for Fortune 500 companies. I've been assigned to work on critical projects, had opportunities to lead technical projects and was rewarded financially for my engineering and professional contribution to projects.<br /><br />However, I have seen female colleagues of all ethnicities (I dislike the word people of colour) who assumed (but were not directed to do) the \"housework role. On many occasions, I have myself volunteered to do this work but was \"shooed\" out of it by female colleagues.<br />",
