"commentText": "Wrong for a couple of reasons
Lincoln was in a 4 way race. There was a lot of division at the time and a great deal of partisanship. So the race was split between 4 people, the fact that he received over 1.8 million votes was itself rather impressive in that field.
When Clinton ran, it was a 3 way race. Clinton with 43, Bush with 37 and Perot with 19. Take out Perot and give each 10 points and Clinton would have won that election with 53% to Bush's 47.
I notice that you left that bit out, partisan much are we?
Some of us can actually fact check things.

This is EXACTLY why the Electoral College was created. The founding fathers foresaw the possibility of one large group or population (whether a city or county or state) could overpower an election.

All states are allocated electoral votes loosely based on the population in each state but with a slight weighting factor that reduces the two big states of New York and California from swamping much smaller states by sheer weight of numbers. This was organized a very long time ago and neither party has shown any interest or compelling reason to change it.
In California they are allocated the most electoral votes of any state because of there size and they get 55 votes with the FPTP scooping up all electoral votes. Clinton got around 66% whilst Trump got 33% of votes cast.
Now here's the 'kicker' you wont like, if the electoral votes (55 for California) were apportioned according to votes cast in that state, Clinton would lose 19 and Trump would gain 19. Even worse is that the whole election strategy would change for both parties as they would campaign for FPTP rather than electoral votes. Trump never bothered going to California as despite getting 33% of the popular vote, he got zero electoral votes.
Now go away and research how it works and why no one wants change for the simple reason they don't know what unintended consequences there might be. Of course this time around due to 2-3 decades of liberal indoctrination in entitlement and can't lose mentality we have a bunch of sore whining losers like you trying to justify all many of reasons why Clinton lost.
