A cigarette company that makes its money from selling an addictive, cancerous product sued two democratically elected governments because the people of these nations had the sense to pass laws that benefit the public's health? What other examples do you need? Everything about this is wrong and everything about the ISDS is inhuman. Please stand up to these lawyers and corporations.\r\n\r\nAnd I really believe Obama is good at heart, but why would he be for this? He always fights for the public, but on this issue he seems way off. It is also an idea the deserves to remain in the 18th century since the industrial revolution made it not only unworkable but exploitive through it's very nature. Oh course the concept originated in Britian where it was actually opposed by the wealthy and supported by the poor as a means to overcome the high price of grain that resulted from the UK's corn laws. It was from a time when the economy of the world was completely agrarian. the wealthy only began to support the concept of free trade when the industrial revolution occurred and it became a means of forcing their manufactured goods on others.
