I do feel bad for this guy and the others who have met his tragic fate in life... but if the people in these places want a better life they need to collectively fix their own environment, not bring it here. I live in TX and see the Mexican flag proudly (disrespectfully) being displayed incessantly by an absolute deluge of similar aspiring "Americans". Maybe they have a desire to improve their own circumstances, but also in my first hand experience, a desire to bring that horrible environment they escaped WITH THEM HERE... No thanks, clean your own house first.",

You make a very good point when saying "they need to collectively fix their own environment" , and oh so justified if -only- it was that easy. Also, "that horrible environment" that you refer to was not exclusively created by Mexican government policies, as I assume you're implying. It is so easy to ignore past events in today's twenty-four hour news cycle, unless you never made the connections to begin with. Let me ask you two questions: How has NAFTA helped the blue collar worker in the US? And what REAL benefits and results has American society seen -besides police departments becoming militarized- due to the "war on drugs"? Ok. After you answer those two questions, then I can tell you how magnified the results of those two accords -between the US and Mexico- have really affected people south of the border. What you see is simply the aftermath of such policies, and though it was a joint effort between more than two nations, who claims to be the champion for capitalism? Who's proud of being referred to as the world' top officer, the creator of wealth and justice? Want truthful answers? Look to the past and inwards? ",

This is more of an homage to where you came from. \r\n\r\nIf fixing the many problems of Honduras was as easy as you imply then those problems would not exist anymore. "commentText": "The US' policies with respect to immigration are grossly discriminatory and operate to advance an execrable agenda that seeks to strip emerging economies of intellectual assets useful to the U.S. and allow immigration by "preferred" groups. while imposing quotas, restrictions, and unseemly delays on all others. There is NO mystery whatsoever as to why "illegal" immigration remains such a problem when, for example, a person in the Philippines will wait an average of just over 40 YEARS for consideration of their application to the US ICE to emigrate. \r\n\r\nIf an applicant from ANY country is poor, they can forget about coming to the US legally since we exclude anyone who might become a "public charge" -- or we say we do. If it's politically expedient, we make exceptions, but where applicants are from Mexico or Central America, somehow it is NEVER expedient. Russia? Chechnya? Afghanistan? Those countries are "different" - We USE those immigrants to try to shame and pressure their home countries in various ways that mesh with political goals. It is an ugly object lesson in what is important in DC politics, and what the government and ICE is willing to compromise to the various "wars" on their defined global ills.",

The minuscule paychecks cant even feed most families let alone pay bills and rent. A lot have at least one family member here without there help they would die. Just standing outside is dangerous.I have heard stories of living in cardboard making shoes of cardboard. We are rich compared to many and yet we belittle them a fraction of what we have. They risk their lives to come here if they survive the road -we dont offer to help them we chase them, lie about them, put them in jail for profit ,we make it as hard as possible for them to become legalized, then we deport them back to the same horrors they ran from to wait fro them to be killed. You ask how many if it were your family how many would you want to give a chance to? "commentText": "You are right JE Texas, but one should also ask why conditions are like this in those countries. Why are people expected to work for miniscule paychecks and how can a family survive on this? Governments are 'elected' according to how they will serve the elite best. It doesn't suit them to give workers more than a starvation allowance - the misery is self-perpetuating and getting worse. In spite of all the rhetoric, people are trapped in circles of ignorance and poverty and the handful of rich get richer. Those who hunt humans at that terrible border should remember, that 'there, but for the Grace of God, go they'. They happen to have been born on the 'right' side of it. What person wants to undertake that hazardous journey, leaving family and all that is dear to them behind, to attempt a better life? In Mexico gas prices have been steadily rising as oil is privatized and the multi-nationals come in for the slaughter. Daily people see the cost of living rocketing. But of course salaries stay the same. Mexico is a fertile and dynamic country where people should all be prosperous. Why are they being dragged ever further into poverty? Where is it to end? ",

"commentText": "While I appreciate Al Jazeera report on Allan Modesto Martinez's death, several observations must be made here. \r\n1. In the 1980s, international lending institutions such as the International Monetary Bank and the World Bank (with input from the USAID) forced so-called developing nations to adopt the Structural Adjustment Programs (SAPs). In doing so, the government impossed austerity programs that is cut on basic necessities.\r\n2. Since the 1980s but particularly during the early 1990s, Honduran oligarchs (Miguel Facusse), international lending instutions, foreign investors have usurped Garinagu land to make way for tourism. Garinagu activists (OFRANEH) continue to be murdered. Most of this killing has been taking place in Triunfo de la Cruz where Modesto Martinez is from. Garinagu forced removal from their land is contributing to their migration. \r\n3. Honduran oligarchs (Miguel Facusse included but also the military regime beginning in the 1970s etc) have made their wealth from the traffick of drug. In the meantime, mostly whites in the United States are the biggest consumers of the drug being trafficked. So, what does the US war on drug policy means? \r\n4. Violence, corruption, and poverty in Honduras is endemic. Yet, during the 2009 coup d'tat, President Barrack Obama did not condemm the violence, suggesting that the good old imperialism must be maintained by whatever means necessary. Those Honduran oligarchs are rewarded with a nice apartment in Miami, the harbor of terrorists. \r\n",

How many people like Mr. Martinez have you even spoken to, let alone had any meaningful interaction with? \r\n\r\nTry first asking yourself, 'how many people should we let die/passively kill?' How many thousands of starving, thirsty, exhausted human beings are you fine with letting die in the desert, for fear that this giant country's "absorption" of more of the immigrants [of which it is, let's not forget, composed] might affect you in some vaguely negative way? When your loved ones step outside the border of their property/city/state/country, possibly because remaining there is akin to suicide, do they get whatever they deserve, for infringing on some other place's right not to be bothered by them?\r\n\r\nWhat an inhuman reaction to a tragic, and sadly common, story.",

How many connections can you make between what corporations get out of (takeaway from) North Americans multiplied by ten in reference to South Americans. How many times does it take for any "Tiger Martinez" to attempt crossing against all odds into the US, experiencing all that has been described here, before he's deemed a simple human being trying to survive in this world? Before he's given more consideration than a mere reply in the form of a short sighted question? ",
