If this lesson was hammered into our young we just might turn the tide of sexual assault that is currently so rampant in our school. It was during summer break when most students were gone until Fall classes began. A basketball player raped another student on campus. The President's solution was to offer full tuition and paid fees and books until she graduated - in exchange for her silence. Seriously. She left the university. No punishment was inflicted upon the basketball player. This situation was prevalent standard operating procedure across our country's educational institutions. There was a united effort by students, professors, and support staff to change the responsibility from the Universities to the Police. Now, it's the LAW, at least in D.C. and Virginia, that all incidents and criminal acts must be reported to the local police.
